Hi, everyone! I am Dr. Dee, your resource for fortunetelling and remediation of unfavorable conditions with folk magic.
When I was a boy, I was told I had an angel cloaked in red with a flaming crown following me and then separately that I come from a long line of Seers. The occult and esoteric arts have seemed like home ever since then. Around the age of 9 years old, my mother randomly gave me my first tarot deck quite unceremoniously one day. At first, I was not sure what to make of them, but I began telling fortunes from an intuitive place as my young mind struggled to make sense of the little white booklet that comes with the cards. How many 12-year-olds do you know who read fortunes for their summer camp counselors instead of playing soccer or going for a swim? However, it was not until I reached adulthood that I really dedicated myself in earnest to learning to read fortunes with tarot and playing cards. It took a while to accept I was not a “normal” kid and honor the seed of the Seer within me.
Tarot cards led me to the occult and esoteric arts, which turned into a broad investigation into American folk magic, Jewish folk magic, and hedge witchery. I liked using herbs, roots, curios, and petition papers to make spells, baths, incenses, talismans, and charms in a personal practice. Time to light candles because finals were coming up! Better make a mojo for safe travel before I take that trip overseas! I really hope this date goes well, so I’m going to take an herbal bath to get my energy vibrating! You get the picture… it was work that I did for myself, but also that I had woven into the fabric of my life.
Well, the universe had other plans. We might try to fight it, but our nature will always come through. So, while I did magic for myself in times of need and read tarot cards for friends and family, it was not until the COVID pandemic started that I was called to be of service to others and came out of the closet. And I have been busy!
