Miss Elvyra On Seasonal Workings

April Showers Bring May Flowers

April, the month of awakening, comes from the Roman “Aprilles” and is associated with the Latin verb aperire, meaning to open. The Greek goddess, Aphrodite, also lends her name and attributes to this month. It is the stirrings of growth, budding trees and flowers, which brings yearnings of another nature as well.

Cleansing one’s house, purifying altars, and anointing sacred images as a process of refreshing and bringing in the aspect of renewal takes advantage of this month’s energies to allow new growth.

The full moon of April goes by many names: Sprouting Grass Moon, Seed Moon, Egg Moon, Hare Moon, Fish Moon and even Pink Moon (for all the pink flowers blooming).

The time of planting, be it seeds and seedlings or ideas and projects, is well worth observing at this time.

Magical workings for healing, love magic such as return/reconciliation, as well as attracting new love are heightened and strengthened during this month. With this increase of life force stirring, spells of passion are enhanced, not just for sex and love but for any project or desire.

Spells For Cleansing
• Use 3 pinches of salt (Epsom salt/kosher salt/sea salt/regular salt) in a cup of water. Asperge the area, altar, or person counter-clockwise. If working on yourself, do a bath with 3 teaspoons of salt in a warm to hot bath.
• Mist with Florida water, Rose of Jericho water, or Holy water any areas or altars to be cleansed. Return and Reconciliation
• Use 2 pink candles (white will do as well). Anoint with any of the following oils: Love Me, Come to Me, Return to Me, Reconciliation. Circle with a mixture of rose petals, catnip, and rosemary. Use Dragon’s Blood incense.
• Take an apple and carve your significant other and your name within a heart on it. Anoint with any of the following oils: Return to Me, Reconciliation, Love Me, Come to Me. Bury in a planter, the yard in front of where you live, or a potted plant in your home.
Spells For Healing
• For the safety of those in the healing professions, use a white candle for Archangel Raphael, white candle for any patron deity, and a white candle for spirit allies. Anoint all 3 candles with Fiery Wall of Protection oil. Put in a triangle pattern with the point coming toward you. Place a picture or name paper in the center of these 3 candles.
• To heal yourself or another, use an incense of Bay leaves, Frankincense, Juniper berries, Thyme, and Rosemary on charcoal (or incense sticks of these). As the incense burns, pray psalms or chants for the healing of your target or yourself.
Passion and Creativity
• Create a mojo bag which includes an egg shaped moonstone, rose quartz, or bloodstone; a small picture or charm of a hare or rabbit; and a pinch of basil, parsley, and pine nuts. Place in a yellow flannel or gold bag. Consecrate by the four elements (earth – a bowl of salt; air – incense; fire – a candle; and water – a small bowl is plenty). Hold the bag with all items in it. Run it through the incense smoke, over the candle flame, dab some of the water onto the bag, and place the bag on the salt. Pray over it, then carry on your person.

Spiritual Tips For Staving Off Sickness

It’s no secret — wanting to maintain good health in these times is top priority. Now more than ever, protecting ourselves and loved ones becomes paramount, despite many feeling limited in both means and resources.

For the spiritual worker, there are a plethora of tools we can employ to keep illness at bay. Though never a substitute for professional medical treatment,
conjure can help us remain in better health and spirits. Below is my spell and a few personal tips to help you and yours do just that.

Herbs To Enhance Wellness

If you have some on hand, add oregano oil to your hand sanitizer. Oregano oil is a powerful antiviral and antibacterial. Add a drop or two to some distilled water in a spray bottle and spray it on the inside of your face mask before entering public spaces.

For internal protection, garlic and echinacea as supplements or in their natural form are beneficial. Echinacea wards off sickness by boosting the immune system. Garlic contains compounds that can help fight off viruses and infections. As always, take care with these if you are pregnant or nursing.

Spell To Protect From Unnatural Illness

You will need:

  • a box (a cross-shaped box is ideal if you can find it)
  • a photo of you and your loved ones
  • cotton batting
  • Peony root
  • Goldenseal
  • Life Everlasting
  • salt
  • blue thread
  • a pack of white or red tealights
  • Healing or Holy oil
  • Run Devil Run oil

1) Write a petition for good health and protection from unnatural illness on the back of the photo. Turn it clockwise 90 degrees, then write Psalm 91:5-6 across it. Dress it with Healing or Holy oil.

2) Make a small cup of tea from Peony root pieces, Goldenseal, and Life Everlasting. Add a couple drops of Run Devil Run oil to it and pray as it cools. Once cooled, soak the cotton in the tea and allow it to dry.

3) Make a packet with the remaining Peony root, Goldenseal, and salt, folding it towards you. Place it in the center of the dried cotton batting, and fold it around the photo. Tie the packet up with the thread and place it inside of the box with the lid on.

4) Dress your tea lights with Run Devil Run and set them up in a circle around the box going clockwise. Light them and recite Psalm 23 over your work and allow the candles to burn out. Once finished, keep the box on your altar or in a kitchen cabinet above your stove. Pray over it weekly to refresh the work.

May health, wellness, and above all peace be yours.

Miss Elvyra On Wiccan Spells And Lore

Ostara

Cute little bunny delivering decorated eggs
Little ones looking for hidden treasure, sweet treats
Easter has been redesigned for the innocent

Ostara, Easter, Spring Equinox, the point of equal light and dark, a balance bringing us from one season to another. This holiday’s ancient roots go back to the Earth mother goddess, who is known by many names in many cultures. This time, marked by ritual and celebration, signals the last of Winter giving way to Spring.

The egg is a symbol of biological life, the time of conception, as well as Cosmic life. The yellow yolk symbolises the solar masculine energy; the white of the egg is for the lunar feminine energy. The shell is the container for the emerging life.

The bunny (rabbit, hare) is sacred to the Goddess, associated with the Moon in both eastern and western cultures.

The actual cleansing, physically and spiritually, of one’s house, work, and altars is appropriate, but this is also a time when spells for personal growth, money, reconciliation, renewal, and cleansing are well-suited:

  • An egg on a string hung in the window is good for psychic protection of the household. This may have been the origin of the silvered “witch ball.”
  • Bury eggs in the foundation and walls of a building to prevent psychic attack.
  • A good way to work with renewal is to collect wood and make wands. If you are more adventuresome, collect enough  wood and twigs to make a broom.

Spring Spiritual Cleaning Activates Positive Change

Spring is almost here and you can see it everywhere! The daffodils are starting to break through the cold, tamped ground, the light lingers as we travel home from work, and the birds have started returning and singing in the morning. Spring brings in new opportunities and renews and refreshes set commitments. Now is the time to start cleaning and spiritually cleansing your home to welcome in new opportunities and blessings with the Season.

Here are some of the areas you should concentrate on for a spiritually spic-n-span clean:

OUTDOOR AREAS: Cardboard boxes that held items shipped to the home should be torn down and recycled to be used again. Sweep old leaves and debris off your porch and steps. Trim out dead branches from your planter boxes and ceramic urns in front of the house. Sweep down cobwebs in the upper corners of your porch or walkway. On a good day, rake up small branches and any leftover leaves from Winter’s storms. Get some Holy Water from your local Catholic church and add a pinch of Kosher Salt and a splash of Florida Water. Flick over the swept area with the fingertips of your dominant hand and bless the area to keep negativity away.

CLOSETS: It’s time to start considering changing out your heavy clothes for lighter-weight ones. Look over all clothes before packing away for next year. Donate any ill-fitting or gently worn clothing to the shelters or thrift store. Clean all winter boots and store in boxes or bags and placed in back of closet. Smudge with a sage wand or bundle and place a square of camphor or a moth ball to keep the negativity away.

GENERAL AREAS: Old magazines, newspapers and brochures should be tossed. Sort through mail and eliminate any unwanted sale papers and offers in envelopes. Take throws and pillows off sofas and give them a good wash with your favorite laundry soap, adding 1/2 cup clear ammonia to the wash water. Clean window and window sills. Move furniture and vacuum up those “dust bunnies.” Change out your vacuum cleaner bag. Sprinkle baking soda or table salt lightly over your carpets and wait a bit, then vacuum. Salt is a natural for absorbing unfavorable energy, and ammonia and epsom salts are the dynamic duo of negative cleansing.

KITCHEN: Organize under your sink and toss out any old household cleaners. Recycle any grocery bags and organize your other ones, too. Look through the Tupperware and Rubbermaid containers and match them up, tossing anything that does not have a lid. Store away any Christmas plates, cups, or servicewear until next year. Organize your pots and pans area. Go through your pantry and toss/donate any food items you are no longer interested in consuming. Combine your half-used bottles of spices and half-opened boxes of teas sections of your cabinets. Using traditional hoodoo cleaners such as Chinese Wash that is “fixed” to clean out negativity and usher in Good Luck can be used here and throughout the house. You can find Chinese Wash in many spiritual candle shops and botanicas.

BATHROOM: Combine your various conditioners and shampoos and use them up before buying any more. Organize under your bathroom cabinet and medicine chest. Check dates on cough syrups and pills for health so you do not take outdated medicines. Toss anything that is outdated. Keeping a box of Epsom Salts under the bathroom cabinet for your own personal spiritual baths makes it easy to reach for when you encounter negative situations or need to remove any “funk” you’ve been in.

BEDROOMS: Deep clean and move furniture to capture those “dust bunnies,” and look for stray socks and other things under the bed. Take heavy blankets to the wash to clean and add the clear ammonia again to wash water. Change the sheets and wash the pillows or take them to the bulk dry cleaner for same day service. Clean out closet, donate clothes if needed. Organize your bookshelf and dresser tops. Clean windows and window sills. Sprinkle salt on the floors and sweep from the back to the front of the room. Place a square of camphor in each corner of the room to keep the room spiritually ‘clean.’

Dissolve a cup of Epsom Salts in a basin of water, adding a capful of ammonia. Wipe down everything possible with this solution. Take a white tea light candle in a fire-safe container, and add three drops of Banishing Oil or White Sage Essential Oil to the top of the tealight. Set in the center of each room (or as close to center as possible). Light the candle and Pray the 23rd Psalm (“The Lord is My Shepherd”). Smudge with a sage bundle, making sure you move through the room and get the smoke into all four corners of the room — and in the closet, too. After the candle finishes, take a small amount of Florida Water in a small dish and, dipping the fingertips of your dominant hand, flick Florida Water over the entire house, making sure to protect any antiques or treasured objects. Consider buying some fresh white flowers (carnations or roses are fine) and keeping one or two in a slender vase in each room, as white flowers are said to absorb negativity. Other beliefs say to place salt in the corners of all rooms and a lighted candle with a square of camphor in the center, to “seal” the room and retain it as “spiritually clean.”

Once a deep clean like this happens, keep the positive vibes up by doing this same ritual once a month, so that your home will be organized and spiritually cleansed for new changes and blessings to come your way.

Lady Muse On Manifesting Good Luck

March Money Magnet!

March can be thought of as the Month of Great Possibilities. The Green Good Luck Month. The Month of the Lucky 4 Leaf Clover and the Trinity Shamrock. Well let’s use this wonderful energy to Manifest our desires!

Always start your rituals with a good old-ashioned Cleansing/Uncrossing Bath, and clean your work area to get rid of any hindering energies. You can purchase a custom Cleansing-Uncrossing Bath from your favorite Metaphysical Boutique or Botanica. Or you can use what you have in your own pantry, such as lemon for your cutting agent, basil, cinnamon, and salt. Hyssop also works wonders and should be a keeper in every pantry. Mix your ingredients together and simmer in water to make a tea for your bath and to clean your ritual space. Add 9 drops of waning moon rain water into your tea while simmering on the stove. After your cleaning and your bath you should be Powered Up to MANIFEST!

You will need:

  • (3) Shamrocks
  • (1 ) 4 Leaf Clover
  • Cascarilla (White Eggshell Powder) Mixed with Lodestone Sand
  • (3) Green Tealights
  • (1) Green Figural Candle (inscribed with your name and date of birth)
  • Honey
  • Money drawing Mix (Cinnamon powder, Blue Flag Root powder, Sassafras powder, Alkanet Root powder, Lodestone sand)

Mix a pinch of Lodestone sand into your Cascarilla (white eggshell powder) and draw a Triangle Sigil on your work surface. Place a green tealight on top of a Shamrock on each tip of your triangle sigil. Mix your Money drawing mix and dress your tealights with a pinch of the mix. Taste the honey then rub honey on your figural candle from bottom to top. Roll your figural candle in the money drawing mix. Place it in the middle of the Triangle on top of the Four Leaf Clover. Light your candles and repeat the following prayer 5 times:
The LORD is my Shepherd and I SHALL NOT Want
I am a Money Magnet and Money Loves Me
The LORD is my Shepherd and I SHALL NOT Want
When I Call Money, Money Comes Quickly
The LORD is my Shepherd and I SHALL NOT Want
Money Come to Me NOW! with no negative repercussions.

I like to do this work on a Sunday during the hour of the Sun. Now stay positive and prepare to receive your Manifestations! Enjoy!

Ritual Bathing For Love With Lady Muse

Hot to Trot For Valentine’s Day

Many people utilize February 14th as the day to celebrate Love and Companionship. Although every day is Love day, Valentine’s day is set aside as a special day to spend quality time with the love of your life. There are many things that you can do to prepare for this magical moment, whether you have a partner or not! Yes this golden nugget can assist you in your love life even if you have not found that someone special just yet. Remember to stay ready so you don’t have to get ready!

Before starting Love work, it is always good to clear the air of any negativity that could be blocking your path on the Love Road. A good morning cleansing bath is always in order.  Here are your ingredients:

1/2 teaspoon of Lemon grass
1/2 teaspoon of Lemon balm
1/2 teaspoon of Hyssop
1/2 teaspoon of Rue
1/4 cup of Florida water
3 drops of Lemon grass essential oil
A sprinkle of cascarilla (white egg shell powder)
2 white tealights

Combine your mixture of herbs, Florida water, lemon oil, and cascarilla; sprinkle in a bowl and pray to awaken the ashe (the spirit) of the herb mixture. Place your hand over the bowl and say: “I speak to the spirit of the herbs and command them to awaken and remove all negative hindrance on me or around me that is blocking or causing problems in my Love Life. Wash me and make me clean.”

Next take a pinch of the mixture and dress your white tealights, which will be placed on the edge of your tub symbolizing a doorway into the water. Now simmer your mixture on the stove to create a tea. Do not boil or scorch. Strain the mixture and pour the tea into your bubble bath.

As you are washing from head to toe, top to bottom, meditate and pray Psalms 51:7. Visualize yourself being free from all hindrances. Visualize your inner self, white as snow. Don’t forget to toss a bit of the water towards the sunset (west) after you air dry and get dressed!

Now it’s time to raise your Love vibrations! This can be done during the afternoon before your hot date or at night if you do not have a date. If you don’t have a date, you still want to raise your Love vibrations to draw someone special. Using the energy of this day of love would be a perfect opportunity to get you vibrating on the frequency of Love!
This golden nugget is for a Hot to Trot Pow Wow Love bath, spray, and powder to dust your body and your mattress.

1/2 teaspoon Damiana
1/2 teaspoon Lovage
1/2 teaspoon Catnip
1/2 teaspoon Hibiscus
1/2 teaspoon Red Clover
Dried Rose petals
5  tiny drops cinnamon fragrance oil (cinnamon essential oil can irritate the skin, so be careful!) or Chuparrosa Oil from Lucky Mojo
1/4 teaspoon magnetic sand
2 red tealights
Your favorite Love (Boom-Boom Room) Song

As your Favorite Boom-Boom Song is playing in the background, combine the ingredients in a bowl and awaken the ashe of the mixture by praying: “I speak to the herbs and command them to awaken and endow me with the Power of Love. Raise my Love vibrations to attract my ideal mate. Let my frequency have a Powerful Animal Magnetic Pull to draw in my heart’s desire.”

Place a pinch of the mixture on the tealights for your bath and half of the mixture into your mortar and pestle or blender to make your powder. Simmer the remaining half on the stove to make a tea for your bath and your Love Spray. Take your Love Bath first, so that you are vibrating on a high Love frequency when you are dressing the mattress with the powder and misting the area in your Boom-Boom room.

During your Love bath, don’t forget the boom-boom music. Meditate and focus on being a Love Magnet as you wash from bottom to top. “I am a Love Magnet and Love loves Me, When I call Love, Love comes quickly, Love come to me now and serve me good, Love come to me now and serve me as you should with no negative repercussions.” After you air dry, lightly dust your body with the powder. Dress your Mattress with the powder as well and fresh red sheets.

After you dress, toss a bit of the water to the sunrise (east). As you are thinking about that someone special, mist your area with the Love spray. Now you are Hot to Trot and ready for Love! Happy Valentine’s Day!

Madame Nadia On How To Write Petitions

Love Note From the Future

Most of the rituals I perform on behalf of my clients require a petition paper. And since I explain at least once a day how I prefer them to be written, I decided to write an article that would serve as a reference for my clients and others who might be seeking guidance in that area.

When I think of Petition Papers, I think of love notes from the future. A future where whatever I desire has already taken place.

I teach my clients to take a few minutes (and a few deep breaths) and imagine a future they desire. Take enough time to fully see it in color, with sound, and with gusto.

And most importantly, with utmost certainty!

Then, when you are in that fertile space, take your favorite pen and physically write down what you’ve envisioned. If you can visualize it, it’s just a matter of time till we manifest it onto this plane, actualizing your wish in the here and now.

So here are a few practical guidelines for the petition:

  1. Imagine you are writing a note from the future. It’s the happiest future possible, where all your wishes and dreams came through already. Everything has actualized.
  2. Write your petition in present tense, I.e. I am healthy, loved, cared for, etc.
  3. Make it about yourself, and don’t write more than a paragraph.

For example, instead of writing, “Please let so and so hire me for a job and give me a decent pay,” write “JW Smith Inc. hired me as their HR representative, and I am making $70,000 a year with a full benefits package.” The more specific the better!

Furthermore, maybe in your vision there was a brown desk, or an office with a view, or a hunky office assistant named Joey who answers your calls and pencils in your appointments. Include these too: “JW Smith Inc. hired me as their head HR manager, and I am making $100,000 annually, and have a full benefits and severance package. I love my office with a large brown desk, huge windows overlooking the bay, and my assistant Joey is both efficient and handsome.”

The more specific you can be in your details, the higher the chances of you getting exactly that. Simple, right?

What’s not so simple — and in fact, the biggest obstacle in any magical working — is folks’ resistance to allowing themselves to dream. But hey, if YOU don’t have faith in your dream, who will?

I hope you’re getting my drift. Just imagine that your petition is a love letter from the future. You are letting me know that what we’ve conjured up has come to pass, and now is a solid and magnificent reality for you.

Miss Elvyra Brings Bright Blessings

Traditions For Long Winter Nights

The week of winter solstice is a time to gather with family, friends, loved ones and community, especially for Pagans, Wiccans, and Witches, to honor through rituals and ceremonies the traditions of the dark returning to light.

The ancients knew this was the longest night of the year, which meant that the sun’s journey back toward Mother Earth had begun, bringing her back to life with warmer days.

Cleansing and ridding one’s home, physically and spiritually, of clutter, dirt, waste, and negativity is best performed as part of ushering in the new life coming forth at this time.

Setting up the sacred space and altar starts this process, along with creating a safe area for a fire (either in a fireplace, cauldron, or fire pit), perfect for performing some banishing spells to cleanse the house (and one’s self) of old demons and bedevilment.

There are several simple but powerful spells:

• Write the name of who or what one wants to banish on a small piece of paper and anoint with Banishing oil at the four corners and center. Put into the fire with three Eucalyptus leaves and let burn.
• Burn a bit of nettles and chicory in the fire and focus on what you wish to banish.
• Throw a small amount of Asafetida on the fire, shouting out, “Begone, go back to where you came from!”
• Place iron or steel tools and implements at home entrances to repel harmful or just mischievous elven folk.
• A powerful mixture of acorns, mistletoe, and oak bark burned in a fire repels undesirable spirits, causing malicious demons to leave.
• A Witch’s Ball — a colored glass globe hung at windows and doors — repels evil.
• The ringing of bells disperses negative spirits.

Finally, the making of the Yule Log (large for a fireplace or small for a cauldron) seals the home. Choose the wood of a tree that has specific significance and decorate with berries, feathers, cinnamon sticks, and mistletoe (nontoxic burnable items). Then put into the fireplace or cauldron and burn. Keep the ashes and use as protection from negativity, evil energies, or nasty beings.

Rituals For Heart And Soul From Lady Muse

Home Is Where The Hearth Is

As we are in the beautiful season of Winter, people all over the world are preparing and beginning their family celebrations.  These celebrations include rituals of candle lighting, gift giving, music, dance and feasts. Many colorful stories overflowing with morals and values are shared to preserve and honor the history of the culture tradition. Sitting around a fire is not uncommon, which is a great time to use this powerful fire energy to create change.

The fireplace is often found in the center of a home, the place where families gather. A pinch of herbs for a specific intent can be applied to the fire and raise the vibration of your desire. Keep in mind Safety first! Just a pinch!

This ritual addition is simple and can be delightful on your celebration day of choice, as many individuals love to time their work. This work can be enjoyed by a fireplace or outside in a fire pit. During a waning moon cycle, it would be great to cleanse and clear away blockages that hinder positive growth and success from the family and community. A pinch of this mixture would be great to open the way.

  1. Cinnamon
  2. Rue
  3. Agrimony
  4. Angelica Root
  5. Borage
  6. Thyme
  7. Basil
  8. Sage
  9. Rosemary
  10. Bay leaf
  11. Solomon seal root

Pray and awaken the herb-root mixture and charge it with your intent. Using a mortar and pestle or blender, transform the mix into a powder. Focus on intent while blending. When completed and ready, gather your loved ones around the fire and as everyone meditates on breaking the chains of hindering spirits, drop 3 pinches of the mixture into the flames as you pray.

Keep in mind that a prayer from the heart is very powerful, but if you need a little prayer assistance here is one I wrote that might be helpful. Enjoy!

God the Creator, I thank you for all things.

I ask that you break the chains of bondage, freeing and uplifting the inner man of our Loved ones, friend, and those who cannot pray for themselves

Give us clarity, wisdom, knowledge, Love, peace, and unity. Let our guardians open the doors and clear our paths that we may embrace positive growth and success.

Keep our Guardian Angels encamped around us protecting us from all evil, hurt, harm, and danger

Let the Ash of this fire purify and shield us from all negativity.

As we end this year and begin the next, we thank you for Strength and Courage.

We humbly thank you for building us to be our best.

By the Powers That Be.

So Mote It Be!

Learn The Legends With Marin Graves

Meet Me Under The Mistletoe

Many people who celebrate Christmas hang Mistletoe in their homes. We know anytime love interests pass underneath it, it’s a great excuse for them to exchange a kiss. Parents torment their kids with this. Young lovers conveniently find each other under it. Long time partners enjoy a moment of youthful bliss beneath sprigs.

But do you know where the tradition originated?

How about a little holiday trivia?

Kissing under the Mistletoe comes from Frigga, the Norse goddess of love.

Frigga’s son, Balder, told his mom that he dreamt of his death. Of course, she was a worried mother who rushed around town asking people to promise her son would not die. But his dream became reality. He was killed with a Mistletoe arrow.

As all myths go, Balder came back to life and his distraught mother cried tears of joy that transformed into pearly mistletoe berries. She then kissed anyone when passing by Mistletoe. The idea being, that anyone who received a kiss under the mistletoe tree could never be harmed.

There are two other stories where Mistletoe and kissing come to play:

Freya, the goddess of love in an Anglo-Saxon legend, proclaimed that all men must kiss the young girls who stood below a Mistletoe sprig hanging from the ceiling.

Also, another custom actually required Mistletoe – all of it used to decorate homes – should be burned on Twelfth Night or any couple who kissed under it would never get married.

Regardless of which legend you believe, I hope that your moments under the Mistletoe are filled with kisses of joy, and that your holiday season shines as bright as your soul.
